Those who enjoy both history and agriculture will love the Heritage & Antique Machinery Festival held every spring. This may be the only chance you'll ever have to see firsthand demos of threshing wheat, a working sawmill, honey bees at work, quilting, wood carving, and chair bottom weaving.

The Virginia Cantaloupe Festival has been held every summer since 1981, and is a great party with live music, delicious food, cold beverages, and a fun crowd.

The Halifax County Fair has been held every Fall for over 100 years! The Fair is a cornerstone event that continues to unite us as a community through agriculture, rides, food and music. It's a great opportunity for kids of all ages to see a wide variety livestock and farm animals up close.

Windmill Farm Bake Shop is a family-owned Mennonite bakery and deli located in South Boston. Windmill is known regionally for their breakfast muffins, sweet breads and doughnuts, a delicious soups, sandwiches, and chicken salad. You can also purchase packaged food products from other Mennonite businesses in the store.

Shangrila Retreat Guest Ranch provides all inclusive horseback riding vacation packages. The ranch has something for everyone, from horseback riding and wagon rides, to sitting by the stocked pond with a good book or fishing, and day trail riding and wagon rides are offered by appointment for those folks not staying at the guest ranch.

Falkland Farms ᅠis a circa 1922 B&B/Hunting Lodge that offers hunting packages, horseback riding, sporting clays range, hiking trails, fishing or just relaxing on the porch.

If you want to rent a horse to take part in a Civil War re-enactment, Bit By Bit Farm is the place for you. The farm also offers riding lessons and trail rides. For a friendly environment for both kids and adults, check out Chiefla Stables. Horse training, riding lessons, horsemanship lessons, trail rides, pony rides & parties - anything horses!

Visit our Amish settlements near Liberty, Lennig, Crystal Hill, and in the Nathalie area to buy their homemade goods, produce, flowers, and furniture. Keep an eye out for slow-moving, horse-drawn black buggies bearing bonneted women and girls and brimmed straw hat-wearing men and boys.
