The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center will be hosting Building Communities Through the Arts on June 4, 2008 from 8:30am until 2:30pm at the Prizery.

The purpose of the Conference is:

• To develop the arts and design to effect positive economic, cultural, and social change in Southern Virginia
• To collaborate with educational providers, community outreach centers, artists, foundations, and industry partners to prepare a creative workforce
• To establish educational and community pathways to build and retain the creative workforce of tomorrow
• To secure the region's economic viability and sustainability for tomorrow
• To respond to the changing workforce needs of the business communities
