May is Festival Month

May 5-7 | 14th Annual Halifax County Heritage & Antique Machinery Festival | County Fairgrounds | Fri: Noon - 9 p.m.; Sat.  9 a.m. - 9 p.m.; Sun.: 1-5 p.m.

A celebration of the region's antiques, arts and crafts, and food. It features many exhibits, including threshing wheat, working sawmill, beekeeping, quilting, wood carving, and blacksmithing. 


May 13 | Noland Village Day | Noland Village in Providence | 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. 

A family-friendly fun-filled day in the country, featuring live music, stew and more delicious food, antique farm equipment displays, vendors, and tours of the historic Noland Village homes. Bring your lawn chairs, sit back, and enjoy a beautiful day.


May 13 | South Boston Strawberry Fest | Halifax Square Shopping Center | 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Music, food tastings, door prizes, talent show, car show, kids' activities, and local strawberries! Fun for the entire family. 


May 20 | Farm & Market Stroll & Swine & Wine | Town of Halifax and Town of South Boston Farmers Markets | 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 6-10 p.m.

An event celebrating local agriculture. Vendors and special events and demostrations at both farmers markets. The fun doesn't end at 2 p.m. Head back to the Halifax Farmers Market at 6 p.m .for the Swine & Wine event, featuring pork from Hudson Heritage Farms and wine from Hunting Creek Vineyards. Live music by Turkey Scratch and refreshments from Blue Ridge Beverages.  There will be children's activities at the public library.
